Research

My research is unabashedly applied. To paraphrase a statement from Marx, the point of doing philosophy, for me, is not just to describe the world, but to change it. My first book project sought to clarify and assess the existential approach to psychoanalysis that Jean-Paul Sartre developed and applied throughout his career. Here, the aim was to highlight the value of existential psychoanalysis for contemporary existentialism, phenomenological research, and psychotherapeutic practice.

My current research centres on developing existential psychoanalysis and other phenomenological techniques as tools for identifying and combating various forms of oppression.
